Thank you for your interest in joining the Congregation Har Shalom family. We welcome this opportunity to further introduce you to Har Shalom, and hope that you will join and grow with us.
Since its beginning, Har Shalom has demonstrated a steady commitment to Jewish education, and the values of family connections and community service. As a traditional, egalitarian congregation, we provide a broad spectrum of programming that meets the needs of our diverse membership, spanning all ages and stages of life – from "Parent and Baby" classes to senior luncheons.
In addition to Shabbat and holiday services for adults, we also offer family services, Tot Shabbat, and youth and teen services. We have daily minyanim, Shabbat study groups and an outstanding adult education program. Our Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) has an outstanding reputation. We are very proud that the ECEC received Commendation by the Board of Jewish Education as well as accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), one of the few local schools to have national accreditation.
Our innovative Religious School begins in kindergarten, continues through high school for our post-b’nai mitzvah students, and includes our parent-child Family Education Program. Jewish Day School families are integrated into the social, educational and religious life of the Har Shalom community. Our active Sisterhood and United Synagogue Youth chapters are known throughout the country for their accomplishments. Our Daytimers and Men’s Club sponsor monthly speakers with community-wide appeal. Our award-winning newsletter, our website and list serve, and the weekly Shabbat bulletin are all part of keeping our members well-informed.
Har Shalom is a vibrant center of Jewish life and culture… a warm, friendly, hamish environment where friends become your family and Har Shalom becomes your second home. Har Shalom is truly a wonderful place to be Jewish. At Har Shalom, financial circumstances are not an obstacle to membership. Let us welcome you into our family so that you too may experience the spirit – the ruach - that makes Har Shalom shine.
Please know that we are interested in you, and you may feel free to contact our New Member Committee at 301-299-7087, ext. 319, make an appointment to visit with our clergy, or just stop by our front office. You are also welcome to attend services at any time. Once again, thank you for your interest in Har Shalom.
