A timely topic. Have you ever been bullied? Have you witnessed someone being bullied? Were you ever the person doing the bullying? We’ve all heard about it, and perhaps have experienced it. But have you ever laughed about it? Or discussed it?
The Peace Mountain Theatre Company (PMTC), whose mission is to produce quality theatre that entertains the senses, engages the mind, and touches the heart, has engaged the professional comedian (and molecular biologist), Adam Ruben, to entertain and educate the community about his personal experience with bullying, in a hilarious comedic show about being bullied as he grew up. In conjunction with his light-hearted self-effacing show, Please Don’t Beat Me Up: Stories and Artifacts from Adolescence, an educational panel will lead a discussion and question and answer session on bullying following Adam’s show.
His show has received rave reviews from The Washington Post, the Washington City Paper, the Maryland Theatre Guide, the DCist Review, and the DC Theatre Scene Review, among others. Adam has taken his show all over the country with great success in numerous venues. Come laugh, and learn.
The show is part of the PMTC Educational Outreach Program and will take place on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 4 pm, in the Gordon Sanctuary. The program is geared for parents, teens, educators, and the general public. Tickets can be purchased through the PMTC website: www.peacemountaintheatrecompany.com or purchased at the door. Adult tickets are $20 / student tickets are $10.
