Welcome to the Congregation Har Shalom Religious School! We are a dynamic, engaging and nurturing school community that offers Jewish learning for students in Kindergarten through 12th Grade. Our school strives to foster Jewish identity, Jewish living and love of Israel and to transmit Jewish knowledge, Jewish values and Hebrew skills. Small class sizes, individualized learning for students with different learning needs and a well-developed spiral curriculum are hallmarks of the school. We weave art, music, technology, field trips and speakers with classroom learning to engage students, increase creativity and make learning experiential.

Our Religious School faculty has been chosen because of their Jewish knowledge, rapport with young people and passion about Judaism. Rabbi Adam Raskin and Hazzan Henrique Ozur Bass both teach extensively in the school and, therefore,  form strong bonds with the students. Jennifer Newfeld, Religious School Director, brings a dynamic experience in Jewish education to the Har Shalom Religious School. She also teaches in the school, works closely with teachers in curriculum development and implementation and creates and leads family education experiences.

We look forward to hearing from you and answering any questions that you might have about our Religious School.

Different Learning Needs

Har Shalom is committed to meeting the needs of all students. We work with parents, students and teachers to integrate students into the school. We have resources and tutors for accelerated students as well as students who need extra support in learning.

Special learning needs often make Hebrew acquisition more difficult. To help all our students learn Hebrew, Har Shalom has developed an extensive tutoring program. A tutor is assigned to each grade on Tuesdays, teenage madrichim give more support and, if needed, a tutor meets with students outside of class time for private tutoring. Individualized programs are developed to meet each child’s needs.
