Wednesday, December 12, 2018 • 4 Tevet 5779
8:00 PM - 9:00 PMRoger Horowitz is a food historian and director of the Center for the History of Business, Technology, and Society at the Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington, Delaware. KOSHER USA is the winner of various awards, including the 2016 National Jewish Book Award for American Jewish Studies. Roger will sign copies of his book (now available in paperback), which will be available for purchase. KOSHER USA follows the journey of kosher foods through the modern industrial food system, tracing how iconic products such as Coca Cola and Jell-O tried to become kosher; how Kosher food gained a wide non-Jewish audience; and the techniques used by Orthodox rabbinical organizations to embed kosher requirements in the very production systems for modern food.
