Meet Kira Mazel
Kira Mazel is a sophomore at the University of Maryland. She is a Nursing major and a student in the Global Public Health Scholars program. She attended Berman Hebrew Academy in Rockville, MD, and after graduating high school, spent a gap year at Midreshet Torah V’Avodah (TVA) in Jerusalem, Israel, studying Judaic subjects such as Bible, Talmud, Jewish Philosophy/Thought, and Jewish Law. Kira was able to travel the land and learn all about the biblical-historical significance of each location and holy site. She also traveled throughout Europe, including Poland, visiting Jewish historical sights to gain a deeper appreciation for the thriving and vibrant Jewish communities that were destroyed, and witnessing the devastation that the Nazi concentration camps brought to the Jewish people. She will be teaching our 8th & 9th grade Holocaust curriculum, with an emphasis on the impact these events have on our Jewish lives and identity.
