Sara Fink joined HSRS as our first Head of Inclusion in August to launch KESHER, a new Har Shalom program ensuring that students of all abilities have access to meaningful Jewish education. Along with working with our students to provide appropriate accommodations to best foster their learning, Sara is training HSRS teachers in techniques for classroom management and differentiated instruction.

Sara comes to Har Shalom with a wealth of educational training and a deep love of Jewish life. From growing up just down the street, all the way through to her adult life Sara has sought out, participated and enhanced Jewish programming from BBYO, Camp JCC, Alexander Muss High School in Israel, continuing her Holocaust education in a trip to Poland, staffing Birthright Israel trips, a leader in Towson University’s campus Jewish life to her involvement in Gather DC and Moishe House events.

Sara is a certified K-12 educator, and has been an Autism teacher in MCPS since 2020. Sara's professional experience includes teaching self-contained classrooms of students with disabilities, as well as training and leading teams of paraeducators. Her interest and love for special education was cultivated in part during her four summers working on the Inclusion Staff at the JCC day camp, volunteering at Friendship Circle, RespectAbility, and Beit Issie Shapiro in Ra'anana, Israel.

Sara grew up in a joyful Jewish home, where weekly family Shabbat dinners were a formative experience.  She has been to Israel 10 times, and loves the Jewish state and the Hebrew language. Sara has loved being part of the Har Shalom community, and looks forward to expanding her role in the coming year as our Director of Religious School!

Special thanks to the Holly Amsterdam Special Needs Endowment Fund and Har Shalom Sisterhood for its generous support of this program. To learn more about Har Shalom's Kesher program, check out this article in Washington Jewish Week.
