This title, as proclaimed in Spamalot, says it all. As a collection of individuals, we have created an influence on the Broadway musical, starting in the Tin Pan Alley era where almost every tunesmith was of Jewish descent. We as a people have become an industry mainstay; how did this happen and how did it evolve? The lecture series will focus on the unique “Jewish Connection” that enhanced the Broadway Musical experience. Steve Friedman is an internationally recognized Broadway Musical historian, who believes that musical and historical perspectives create emotional reactions. He prides himself on helping audiences enjoy the relevance of time and era on musical theater history. Steve serves as an adjunct faculty member at two colleges, including Johns Hopkins University, and is the author of the best-seller, The Ultimate Broadway Musical List Book.
